Fort Tikona is approximately 50 Kms from Pune. However it is nearer from Lonavala (appx 15 kms), so if you come from Mumbai, it is still reachable. The Fort is very easy , not very tall, excellent for beginners or for those who want to restart trekking in their middle age like mine.
How to reach Fort Tikona from Pune :-
There are 2 ways :-
1. From Pune-Paud Road-Chandni Chowk-Pirangut-Paud. Now take a right turn at Paud , take road which goes to Pavana Nagar via Giriwan. You will get small villages like kolwan-Jawan-Tikona Peth.
2. From Pune -Mumbai – Old highway (NH4)-Take Left turn near kamshet for Pawna nagar , From Pawna Nagar – reach Tikona Peth.
I came with our school-children by the first Road. The Kms is around 50 Kms. Road is reasonably good except a little bad road for 3-4 kms, but no problems except that. On the way you can see full greenary (after Paud actually). We travelled by own hired BUS.
We started around 8 AM in the morning from Pune, reached Tikona Peth, which is the base village at around 9-30 a.m. There is a good temple at the base, where we all had our breakfast.
Better to carry your own tiffins here for breakfast & lunch , and water also. There is water available throughout at shops on the road, and you get good fresh natural rock water on the fort also. But during the climb, better carry your bottles.

I do not have any timings available. But you will get some conveyance, sure.
We started climbing at 10, and reached at the top at around 11-15 am. With kids , I won’t say it took a great time. The fort is easy , but offers beautiful seaneary all the way. You will also enjoy some good thrill when you climb on a ridge where you will see deep valley on both sides of you.
There is not much to see on the top except one or two old monuments and some temples of Hanuman.
There is a very thin stepped staircase (black rocky) , which has very tall steps. It is very thrilling getting down from them
While returning , we all enjoyed our lunch tiffins at the temple at the bottom – Village peth Tikona.
Then we headed for Bedse Caves. It is approximately 20 Kms from Tikona Peth. From Tikona , take road going to Kamshet via Pavna Nagar. On the way, you see the beautiful sight of Fort Tung , surrounded by water.
